Journal of System Safety is a non-profit publication of the non-profit International System Safety.

Open Access

JSS is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

As a diamond open access journal, JSS does not accept article processing charges (APC) or other author publication fees.

Revenue Sources

To support the publication of the journal, sources of revenue may include the following:

  • Society funding
    • Journal Advertising (see Advertising and Marketing Policy)
      • Print ads
      • Online ads
      • Website affiliate marketing (e.g. Amazon or Zazzle)
      • Corporate Open Access sponsorship
  • Subscriptions
      • Only for the print version of the journal
      • Online version does not require subscriptions
  • Donations
    • Periodic fundraisers
    • Ad hoc online donations
